How do you say drunk in Spanish

How do you say drunk in Spanish?

The usual term is borracho (it can also be a noun meaning “drunkard”), ebrio is a more formal term.
Beodo is a bit old-fashioned but funny.
Technically it’s bajo los efectos del alcohol.
Achispado
is “tipsy”.
In Spain you can also use slang to say mamado (literally “sucked”), estar pedo (“to be fart”), estar como una cuba (“to be like a barrel”), tener una melopea (untranslatable, sorry).
And I don't know if it's only in Madrid: estar pedo como Alfredo (“to be fart like Alfredo”, whoever the poor guy was).

Borracho
Ebrio
Briago
Beodo
Tomado
Alcoholizado
And more colloquial expressions
Pedo
Cuete (not cohete)
Servido
Bien happy
(andar) Hasta atrás
Pick your choice

You say borracho.

To say that someone is drunk you use borracho with estar verb.
I’m drunk = Estoy borracho (male) / Estoy borracha (female)
You’re drunk = Estás borracho (male) / Estás borracha (female)
He / she is drunk = Él está borracho / ella está borracha
etc.
Notice that gender modifies the ending of borracho.
If you want to sound a little bit more formal you can also use ebrio instead of borracho.

Hope that helps :)

In Buenos Aires, you can say “en curda” (a Lunfardo word).
Another word is “choborra”, which is nothig else but “borracho” changing the syllable order, something used regularly here.
It is called “vesre”, meaning “reves” (literally, “the other way around” said the other way around… OK, I’m starting to confuse myself…)

You can say drunk in many ways, but the countries in South America there specifics concepts for that word.
Mexico: pedo
Colombia: rasca, hincho, jarto, embombado
Chile: curao
Argentina: chupado, beodo
Perú: chamorro
Bolivia: duro
Nicaragua: embolado, sesereque
Venezuela: encandilado, maiceado
Costa Rica: fututo, futute, jumas
Honduras: soropete emperrado

This is so exciting!!!!
I’d never thought I’d see a relatively simple translation question with so many answers (75 at the time I’m responding, plus 47 collapsed ones) where I can add any new information.
