How do you say AIDS in Spanish

How do you say “AIDS” in Spanish?

SIDA (Síndrome de Inmunodeficiencia Adquirida), a literal translation of AIDS.
It develops in patients infected with VIH (virus de la inmunodeficiencia humana), again translated directly from HIV.
Unfortunately, those affected with SIDA might be called ‘sidosos’, which is utterly pejorative and despective.
Sane ways to referring to the infected population are “pacientes/personas VIH positivos”) or, for short, “VIH positivos”, “HIV positivos” or “seropositivos”.
Alternatively, “enfermos de SIDA”, if they have developed the syndrome.
